Seiko 5 exotic dial "geometric"
A vintage Seiko 5 automatic from the 1980s with an unusual split-panel dial. The brushed grey dial is divided into contrasting vertical blocks, with gold-tone faceted markers at 12 and 6, gold hands and lume dots around the edge. The finish is crisp, and the dial is the reason to buy this one. We have not come across another Seiko 5 with this layout.
The day-date window shows the day in Spanish (MIE for miércoles). Seiko used Spanish day wheels on watches sold into Spanish-speaking markets, which adds to the character. The day wheel can be changed in the movement if an English day is preferred.
The watch runs and keeps good time. The automatic Seiko 7009 movement winds on the wrist, hacks via the crown and sets cleanly, and the day and date both change correctly.
It is fitted to a steel bracelet with a folding clasp. The case and bracelet show normal signs of age, mainly light surface marks. The photographs show the watch as it is, with no filters applied.
